Salute to Poland

Prayers everyone, Polish President Lech Kaczynski and some of the country's highest military and civilian leaders died on Saturday in a plane crash in Russia. We've lost 97 "Pro-West" power players and great people.

After reading this, the first thing that came into my thoughts were the stories of the Polish troops serving in Afghanistan with our troops. One particular soldier couldn't stop bragging about them when he came home.

He spoke about being amazed at their loyalty to America and the spreading of freedom. The Polish troops would actually stand in the line of fire and go out of their way, not to protect their own but to protect the American soldiers. When the battles would end, the American troops would ask, "Why in the world would you guys do this?!?!"

The Polish troops would always reply in the nature of, "Without America, the world has nothing else left to save and protect it. The Polish can't do everything, ya' know?"

They acknowledged the troops and their humanity too. They saw that our troops were not gun totting in-humane monsters. So, thank a Polish soldier if and when you should get the chance to. (Thank their people too, their families are hurting too when they lose their soldiers.)

None the less...they are some tough SOB's too. These bad boys would walk around in T' Shirts and AK47's. They would say hold the bullet proof vest, I can do more damage to the enemy with out one. Helmets...? Nope, they didn't want to be bothered with them. They would acknowledge their tough skulls and joke about the obvious. "You don't need to be smart to pull a trigger," one Polish soldier said.

However, like they acknowledged...us Americans are humane. And on this sad day, April 10, 2010 our thoughts and prayers are with them.

May their great 97 leaders rest in peace and spread the damage to the enemy from the other side...Polish style!!!

Amen...salute to you Poland.
